Bellettrie hosts weekly writing evenings. These happen on Wednesday evenings on non-holiday weeks (as reckoned by University of Twente holidays, not national ones), currently starting at 19:30. During the writing evenings we sit together with other writers to write together, motivate one another, or talk about our writing. There is always tea in the room and people usually bring snacks to share. Interested people are always welcome to drop by, we love making new friends :).
The Bellettrie hosts a yearly short story competition (the Short StorC) organised, which usually starts around the third quartile. The Writing Committee picks a theme for the year, and participants can submit a story related to that theme. All the stories will be bound up into a physical anthology, of which you can order as many copies as you'd like. Close to the end of the academic year (usually in May or June) we will have a small prize ceremony, where the judges will announce the top three winning stories, talk about what they thought of the stories, and hand out small prizes.
Once every year it's November, the dreary month of rain and... mostly just rain. But it's also the month to embark on the Story Quest, the quest to write a story* in a single month! Every year, the Bellettrie hosts a place to prepare, share your progress, and gather limitless amounts of inspiration**. These take place during the regular writing evenings in November and the one directly before November (and don't replace the regular writing evenings, don't worry). In addition, these evenings are explicitly open to all adventurers, including non-members.
*People tend to aim around 50.000 words, but feel free to set your own goal!
**Limits may still apply.
